Two notes by George M. Setszer of the 18th Virginia Infantry, Co. F., who was KIA at Gettysburg. Notes are undated but include a cover to Setszer's father in Farmville Virginia, postmarked from Richmond on 4 December 1862. First note, on the back of a Farmer's Bank of Virginia bank slip, reads, ''Richmond VA / Dear Father / We have arrived all Safe and are quart[er]ed on Franklin Street. Look in the till of my trunk and send the screws of my gun down with my coat. Give my love to all. G.M. Setszer''. Second note reads, ''Don't be uneasy about me as I will try and take care of myself and if we get in a fight I will let you know directly it is over and if I get wounded I will let you know it at once.'' Very good condition.
