Extremely large Dr. Seuss drawing from the 1940's, signed ''Dr. Seuss (0921507)'', his U.S. Army service number. The famous children's book author and artist drew countless political drawings at that time, most aimed at isolationists who favored sitting out the European conflict. Seuss often used a dachshund to represent Germans in his political cartoons. When Ted Geisel (aka Seuss) served as an officer in the Information and Education division of the Army, he befriended a New York couple who had a dachshund named Fritz, and this drawing was drawn for that family's son. The drawing, entitled ''Fritz, the I & E Officer and the Bee'', depicts a dachshund being held up by a bird as a bee stings the dog's tail. Geisel includes his army service number in the signature, which reads ''Dr. Seuss / (0921507)'' to bottom right. Large drawing measures 66'' x 29.5'', housed inside a dark brown frame. Weighs 23.5 lbs. Very good.
