Academy Award-winning actress Mary Astor autograph letter signed. Here, Astor writes to her agent Gloria Safier in New York. Letter, dated simply May 22, reads in full, ''Gloria dear -- Sit down and have a drink and a dream with me. And I'm not nuts. At the moment it's an impossible dream. But if you inspect it closely there are all kinds of 'you could do this' ideas within the framework. The original place was built as a country hideaway by Bartolomis Almado in the 1860's. The elements, time and vandals left it in a ruin and the Franklins restored it (over a period of four years) to this present jewel-like home. My snapshots don't do it justice and I was much too involved with wandering -- and wondering...'' Signed ''Mary'', one page document in blue ink measures 8.5'' x 11''. Minor folds, else near fine.
