Gold Tooting Bec Cup medal bestowed upon Eric G. Lester by the PGA at the 1953 British Open held in Carnoustie, Scotland. Lester's scoring lowest in a single round in the Open Championship that year with a score of 70, together with his requisite UK heritage, earned him the Tooting Bec Cup, which he shared with Dai Rees. Lot includes a 7'' x 5'' black and white photograph of Lester. Made from 9 kt. gold, medal measures nearly 1'' in diameter. Weighs 8.9 grams, or 0.21 ounces. Hallmarked Birmingham 1953, with the maker's mark of Alexander Clark & Co Ltd. Near fine.
