General MacArthur typed letter signed, dated 28 January 1953 from New York City. Addressed to Bill McDonald, letter reads, ''Dear Mr. McDonald: Thank you so much for your birthday greeting. I heartily reciprocate your congratulations in view of the similarity of our birthdays. May you have many more and live in increasing happiness.'' Signed ''Douglas MacArthur''. Letter measures 7.5'' x 9'', nicely framed with a photo of the General posing in uniform with his signature corncob pipe. Matted and framed to an overall size of 19'' x 15'', with the original postmarked ''War Department'' envelope intact in a plastic sleeve affixed to verso. Minor foxing and folds to letter, else near fine.
