World-famous Italian opera singer Enrico Caruso's hand-drawn sketch, unsigned. Best known for his signature role as Canio in ''Pagliacci,'' Caruso was also a pioneer in recorded sound, selling a million records at the dawn of the medium. More obscure was his passion for visual art, particularly caricatures, a medium he became quite accomplished at over his lifetime. Portrait depicts a man in profile, his hair styled high upon his head above a great Aquiline nose. Drawn in pencil and ink. Measures 4.75'' x 8.75'', taped at top edge only to a mat. Minor toning and pencil notations to verso, else near fine. From a larger collection of Enrico Caruso caricature sketches and thus identified.
