Typed letter signed, addressed to Hugh Brannum and written by a family member, circa 1942 on United States Fleet Training Base stationery. Brannum played Mr. Green Jeans on ''Captain Kangaroo'' and was one of the show's most memorable characters, always portrayed in his famous green overalls and straw hat. Addressed to his nickname, ''Dear Lumpy'', lengthy letter discusses Brannum's loss of a job, ''It's sure too bad about your job, and I'm hoping everything will turn out O.K. I'm pretty sure it will, through because we seem to be kind of lucky when it comes to stuff like that...'' He then goes on to discuss his career aspirations and makes reference to their mutual family members. Signed ''Tom'' in ink. 2pp. letter on one sheet, front and verso, measures 8.5'' x 11''. Pink stains to top and folds throughout. Very good condition. Acquired at the estate sale of Hugh Brannum's widow on 28 June 2014 in Saylorsburg, PA.
