Undated letter on his New Rochelle, New York stationery reads in full, ''Say Bill, - Did I leave a small palate knife on your window sill - if so - mail it please - / yours, Frederic R.'' A reply in another hand reads, ''I answered this - I could not find it - ''. Accompanied by an envelope addressed by Remington to Louis Shipman in Vermont, postmarked 31 January 1882. Single-page letter measures 5'' x 7.75''. Toning and staining to verso, else near fine.
