Charming sketch of cartoon character ''Woody Woodpecker'' illustrated and signed by his creator, Walter Lantz. In this sketch of Woody as an enthusiastic hula dancer, Lantz's autograph appears twice, once below the character, ''1978 Walter Lantz'' and again on the frame's paper backing, ''To Pestana / with best wishes / Walter Lantz / May 16 1978''. Lantz's most beloved creation is sketched in ink on an 8.25'' x 11.25'' illustration board, matted and framed to 16.5'' x 19.5''. Near fine.
