Jack Swigert's rare Apollo 8 Robbins Medal flown aboard the spacecraft during the 1968 mission. The historic Apollo 8 mission was the first human spaceflight to leave Earth's orbit. Pyramid-shaped sterling silver medal features mission insignia including the number 8 circling the moon and earth, and the last name of each crew member Frank Borman, James Lovell, and Bill Anders to front. Reverse is engraved ''Dec. 21-27, 1968'' with serial number ''231''. Medal measures 1.5'' x 1.25'' housed in its original ''Robbins Company'' plastic box with a ''231'' sticker on the bottom. Tarnishing, else near fine. With an LOA from Apollo 13 astronaut Jack Swigert's sister.
