Harry S. Truman typed letter signed as President on official White House stationery, dated 2 December 1949 from Key West, Florida. Letter is addressed to T. Edwin Quisenberry and discusses the oft-debated separation of power in a democracy. Reads in part, ''...I am grateful for your thoughtful letter of November twenty-ninth...The question of division of powers and assignment of responsibilities between the executive and the legislative branches of the government in dealing with our foreign relations is as old as the Constitution itself. I have rarely seen a clearer or more lucid statement of that division than yours...'' Signed clearly ''Harry S. Truman''. Letter on one page measures 7'' x 8.75''. Includes original postmarked enveloped and a copy of the preceding letter from Quisenberry to Truman. Minor folds and toning, else near fine.
