Rare Apollo 8 Robbins Medal aboard the spacecraft during the 1968 mission. The historic Apollo 8 mission was the first human spaceflight to leave Earth's orbit. Pyramid- shaped sterling silver medal features mission insignia including the number 8 circling the moon and earth, and the last name of each crew member Frank Borman, James Lovell, and Bill Anders to front. Reverse is engraved ''Dec. 21-27, 1968'' with serial number ''205''. Medal measures 1.5'' x 1.25'' housed in its original ''Robbins Company'' plastic box with an ''205'' sticker on the bottom. Minor tarnishing to verso, else near fine. With an LOA from Apollo 13 astronaut Jack Swigert's sister.
