Signer of the Declaration of Independence, Charles Carroll III autograph letter signed. Dated 15 August 1824, letter to one Captain Francis Foster of Baltimore reads in full, ''Sir, your letter of the 7th I Answered on the 8th instant. In my letter on the 5th I requested you to inform me the No. of Jr. Haslet's lot: to whom did he succeed? I have no such tenant on my book. Endeavour to collect the rents due to me in Baltimore - I am respectfully Sin/Yrs. Most hum. Servnt Ch. Carroll of Carrollton''. Single-page letter measures 8'' x 10''. Letter has notations from mailing on verso and still retains remnants of the wax seal. Chipping to edges, dampstaining and a tape-repaired closed chip to the first ''Car'' in the signature. Very good overall.
