ESPY award trophy presented to triathlete Jason Lester in the category of Best Male Athlete With a Disability. Lester is the first triathlete honored with ESPN's coveted ESPY award. Trophy was presented to Lester at the 2009 ceremony, held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Lester overcame the consequences of a hit-and-run accident that occurred when he was 12 years old; he suffered more than 20 broken bones, a collapsed lung and partially paralyzed right arm. Lester is the first athlete with a disability to complete the grueling Ultraman World Championships, a distinction he earned the year before receiving this award. Stately trophy of a sphere resting on a tall pedestal that tapers at the center owes its sleek, modern design to sculptor Lawrence Nowlan. A metal plaque affixed to the front is imprinted with the award's name, recipient and category in black print. ''ESPY'' is printed in grey across the globe. Platinum-plated, trophy measures 17.5'' in height and 4.25'' square at the base. Weighs 7 pounds 11 ounces. Sharp area to bottom left rear corner, else fine. Originally auctioned by Lester to benefit the charity Jasons Causes.
