The story of Max sailing off to the land of the wild things was awarded the 1964 Caldecott Medal as the year's most distinguished picture book for children. The second issue dustjacket, with unclipped original $3.50 price, features the Caldecott gold medal on the front cover. Moderate tearing, chipping and toning to dustjacket with intact Caldecott Medal; good condition. Minor smudging to 10'' x 9.25'' book with cloth backed pictorial paper boards, else near fine condition.
