Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr. autograph letter signed. Though the date is obscured, letter was written from Holmes' address on Beacon Street in Boston, where he lived from 1871 to 1894. Holmes writes to a Mr. Woods about an item appearing in the ''Boston Globe'' newspaper. Letter reads in part: ''...I have not seen the Globe, but I have no doubt you spoke generously...'' He signs: ''OW Holmes''. 4.5'' x 3.5'' letter is matted with a 3.5'' x 5'' photo of Holmes to an overall size of 11.75'' x 8''. Smudging from dampstaining, else very good.
