William McKinley White House invitation. Hand-addressed invitation features mostly printed text under a gilt presidential seal. Text reads in full, ''The President and Mrs. McKinley request the pleasure of the company of Mr. and Mrs. Comey at a reception to be held at the Executive Mansion Wednesday evening, January the ninth, nineteen hundred and one, from nine to ten-thirty o'clock.'' McKinley was assassinated in September of the same year. Measures 5.5'' x 4.75''. Mounted attractively to gilt paperboard to an overall size of 6.25'' x 5.25''. Tiny spot at bottom, else near fine.
