Dated 10 November 1880, just a week after the election of Garfield and Arthur, letter reads, ''My dear Roessle, Thank you for your kind congratulations - I expect to be in Washington frequently during the winter & to be at the Arlington as usual. Yours faithfully CA Arthur''. Single-page letter on a single sheet of mourning stationery measures 4.75'' x 5.75''. Creasing and two rolled bits of tape to verso, else near fine.
