The horror author adds his autograph inscription in blue ink to the front free endpaper: ''To Jeff - Thanks for the nice notice in the Times - All Best, Stephen King / 9/8/79.'' With ''Carrie,'' ''Salem's Lot'' and ''The Shining'' under his belt, King wrote this novel, his fourth, as a fantasy epic, set in a post-apocalyptic southwestern United States. Runs 823pp. Bound in manila paper boards with a black cloth spine and gilt lettering. Toning to leaves, else near fine. With near fine dustjacket save for toning and housed in a black and white magnetic slipcase to an overall size of 6.5'' x 9.5'' x 3''.
