Henry III of France letter signed, ''Henry'' as King, the last French monarch of the Valois dynasty. French language document is datelined Paris, 31 January 1587 and addressed to Jean de Vionne, Marquis de Pisani, Knight of the Order and French ambassador to Rome. Document recommends the resignation of an Abbey, to be replaced by Louis de Richebourg, Ecclesiastic of the Diocese of Troy for the Abbey of Eslau, Cistercience Order, diocese of Reims. Two pages upon a single sheet, measuring 9'' x 14.75''. Toning, light soiling, stamp from a previous collection on verso and ink notations to one panel of verso. Very good.
