Disney animation cel from ''Pinocchio''. Adorable cel filmed in the 1940 classic is of Pinocchio underwater after diving to the ocean floor in an attempt to save his maker, Geppetto, who was swallowed by a whale while at sea, where he had gone first in search of Pinocchio. Pinocchio has sprouted donkey ears and a tail from the adventure immediately preceding this rescue mission. A trio of fish cels surround the sunken marionette, who with raised eyebrows and big eyes looks very much out of his element in the watery environment. Scene measures 8.5'' square, matted and framed to an overall size of 15.25'' square. With Courvoisier Galleries sticker affixed to backing. Backing shows tearing and frame shows nicks. Some buckling and displacement to background and fading, else cel is near fine.
