Queen Victoria personally owned custom stockings. Pair of stockings in a light blush color are woven with her royal cypher and "VR" incorporated into the pattern, along with numbers 10 and 11, so numbered as part of the dressing system. Both stockings are adorned with a small embroidered design halfway between the ankle and calf. Stockings predate the death of Prince Albert, after which Victoria wore only black. These were part of Victoria's wardrobe at her estate in Scotland, Balmoral before coming into the possession of Christina Symon, a longtime friend of Victoria on Deeside and owner of a fabric shop in Crathie, at the gates of Balmoral. Beautifully crafted stockings of obvious quality measure 25" in height, with foot measuring 8". Repair to a small patch near the ankle on one stocking, else near fine, especially given age and nature of the garments.
