Book from a later printing is inscribed upon the front free endpaper by the famed FBI Director, ''To / William H. Carpenter / Best Wishes / J. Edgar Hoover / 11.9.60'' in blue ink. By the late 1950's, Hoover's zealous hunt for communists was in full swing. Runs 374pp. Bound in red cloth boards with black print and gilt lettering. Measures 5.75'' x 8.5''. Black smudge to front board, pencil notation to signed page and wear to exterior corners and edges, else near fine.
