Martin Luther King, Jr. early drafts of his speech from September 1956, in preparation for the 35th annual observance of Race Relations Sunday by the National Council of Churches. Pair of typed drafts consist of a 2pp. typed document with edits typed in red, marked ''Confidential'' and ''Not for publication'', and a 3pp. version of a similar document. A finalized version was published in an NCC flyer. All leaves measure 8.5'' x 11''. Mild toning, creasing and staple punctures, else near fine. From the collection of Maude Ballou, Martin Luther King Jr.'s close friend and personal secretary.
