First Lady Martha Washington ''M Washington'' signature to simple 2.5'' x .5'' slip of paper. With a letter of provenance from a family member on Martha Washington's side, dated 1852, letter reads in full: ''Autographs of Mrs. Martha Washington for G. Washington Lewis his Great Great Grand Mother left by his Grand Mother E.P. Lewis.'' A note on the left corner identifies the author of the letter as George Washington Lewis' own mother, Eleanor Lewis, the daughter of Eleanor Parke Custis Lewis, known as Nelly, Martha Washington's granddaughter from her first marriage. Letter of provenance measures 7.25'' x 2.75'' one one page with toning and fold throughout. Overall, very good.
