Likely a draft for a formal statement, and written completely in Agnew's hand, the former Vice President expresses his grief over the sudden death of Lyndon Johnson. In part: ''President Johnson's death, notwithstanding his recent illness. Comes as a severe shock. His strength and vitality, his liveliness and warmth, made the idea of his passing somehow unbelievable.'' With light pencil markings along bottom, likely made by a previous collector.
