Intricately designed silver pitcher from the estate of movie mogul Darryl F. Zanuck, with an LOA from Zanuck's daughter stating the pitcher was gifted to Zanuck by Orson Welles. Ample flagon style pitcher features a hinged lid with foliated handle and decorated spout. The sides are decorated 360 degrees around with classical figures in relief. Handle features a pair of bone rings placed at either end. Design features beading near the base and around the lid's rim and finial. Accompanying signed letter from Darryl Zanuck's daughter Darrylin reads in part, ''...Regarding the old silver pot with the figurines dancing...I was in London with my father where Orson Welles gave it to my dad. They were great friends and roamed around Europe together - In fact Orson spoke at my dad's funeral...'' Pitcher measures 11.25'' in height with a diameter of 6.75''. Tarnishing and some loosening to handle, else fine. An excellent pairing of Old Hollywood legends in a single fine item.
