Tantalus whiskey set engraved, ''Darryl F. Zanuck'' to the box at the center. Tantalus was a figure in Greek mythology sentenced to an eternity of torture under a tree with grapes and water always just out of his reach. This device is so named for its locking function, keeping the whiskey present but off limits. Box of solid copper holds a trio of decanters. Its lock is signed ''Betjamanns'' and the opposite hinge is struck, ''The Tantalus''. Each decanter is made of green glass cut with ivy design and includes its original all cut glass stopper. Box measures 15'' x 12'' x 5.75'' and decanters each measure 3.25'' x 9.25''. Box hinge functions without locking. Key is absent and copper shows some oxidation, else near fine. With a COA from the Zanuck estate.
