Marilyn Monroe owned cigarette lighter with inset timepiece, housed in a monogrammed leather case. Luxury item by Dunhill is stamped 18k on its underside and features an allover black diamond and Greek key design. Squared cylindrical lighter features a manual wick cover. Timepiece inset into the side opens with a hinge for access to the stem and movement, which is engraved with the number 549. The lighter itself is engraved with the letters ''E.A.D.'', patent number 143752 and brand, ''Alfred Dunhill / Paris''. Measures 1.5'' x 1.75'' x 0.5''. Housed in a black leather case bearing the star's initials, ''M.M.'' in gilt. Measures 2'' x 1.5'' x 0.75'' and shows some scattered superficial denting. Toning and soiling to dial and clock no longer functions, else near fine. With provenance from Christie's citing the auction of Monroe's suitcase, inside which this little treasure was discovered by the winner.
