Academy Award nomination certificate for the famous 1963 blockbuster that famously brought Richard Burton and Liz Taylor together, ''Cleopatra''. Certificate plaque for the 36th annual Oscars nominates acclaimed film editor Dorothy Spencer for Outstanding Achievement in the category of film editing. Directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, the film was famously one of the most expensive productions in Hollywood history. Certificate features an illustration of the iconic Oscar statue and reads in full: ''Certificate / of / Nomination / for / Award / Be it known that / Dorothy Spencer / was nominated for an / Academy Award of Merit / for Outstanding Achievement / Film Editing / 'Cleopatra' / This judgment being rendered with reference to Motion Pictures / first regularly exhibited in the Los Angeles district / during the year ending December 31, 1963.'' Signed by the Academy President, President Arthur Freed and Secretary Hal Elias. Certificate has been inlaid in a wooden plaque with gilt trim to an overall size of 12'' x 13.75''. Foxing and some toning, else near fine.
