Original spoon taken from the sunken Battleship Arizona galley. The U.S.S. Arizona sunk after being bombed during the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941, killing 1,177 officers and crewmen. Stainless steel spoon is heavily tarnished with a ''U.S.N.'' engraving to end. With a letter of provenance from a Hawaii War Savings Staff member reading in part, ''This article, namely--tea spoon--was taken from the USS Arizona by divers on February 19, 1943...'' Also includes a First Day Issue 21 August 1959 Hawaiian postmarked envelope. Spoon measures 6'' x 1.5''. Very good condition.
