American flag flown aboard the Apollo 10 mission. The successful test-run helped to prepare for the upcoming Apollo 11 mission without actually landing on the moon, though coming within 8 miles of the lunar surface. 6'' x 4'' cloth flag is affixed to an official NASA certificate signed by each crew member in felt ink, ''Tom Stafford'', ''John Young'' and ''Gene Cernan''. A printed caption reads: ''This flag traveled on Apollo X with the first LM [Lunar Module] to the moon''. An additional inscription by an unknown hand reads, ''To Bill Grunert - Our Sincere Thanks For All Your Help / The Crew of Apollo X''. Certificate measures 9.75'' x 11.75''.
