Zane Grey handwritten manuscript page from his classic 1910 western novel ''Heritage of the Desert.'' This lengthy handwritten page marked as #253 is rendered in pencil with words and sentences crossed out and improved upon by Grey. The story follows John Hare who finds himself drawn into a Wild West adventure. This dynamic section reads in part: ''...''The sight of it flashed into the gulf of Hare's mind like a meteor into black night. The calm strange unreasoning mood of the preceding days went out with a madness that raced through his veins. A hot wave swelled over him...The outlaw stood groping away past associations...The intense stillness of the room broke to a hoarse whisper from some one, 'Look how he packs his gun.''' Single page measures 7.5'' x 12'', framed with the same passage from the published novel, as well as a photo of Grey to an overall size of 31'' x 20.25''. Near fine.
