Governor William McKinley document signed as Governor of Ohio, dated 8 January 1896, just five days before leaving office. Signed ''W. McKinley'' and countersigned by the secretary of state document appoints one Edgar L. Hills to the position of County Recorder of Ashtabula County. Partially-printed document features ''The State of Ohio / William McKinley / Governor of said State'' printed at top with a political emblem. The seal of Ohio is lightly stamped to the lower left. Measures 14'' x 17''. Creasing and just pinholes of separation at fold intersections, mounted to paperboard, else near fine.
