Ellis Island Pass signed by the U.S. Commissioner of Immigration, Benjamin M. Day, in 1928. The bustling hub admitted 12 million people to the country from 1892 to 1954. About one-third of the current U.S. population can claim ancestors who came through Ellis Island. The pass, rubber-stamped 10 August 1928, admits ''Miss M. Glynn and 3 others'' to the station. Accompanied by Miss Glynn's autograph letter signed to Day requesting the pass as part of her course of study at Columbia University. Pass measures 4'' x 3''. Partially affixed to an envelope. Toning and creasing. Very good.
