Typed letter signed by Charles Lindberg, a Marine corporal involved in the first American flag raising on Iwo Jima. Dated 29 January 2004, Lindberg recounts the flag-raising: ''...The 2nd flag raising...was...four hours after the First Flag Raising (the real one) that I participated in at 10:30am...we raised the American flag...to the cheers of the troops down below and the ships whistles off shore...the enemy started coming out of their caves...my weapon was the flame thrower...Charles W. Lindberg''. 8.25'' x 11'' letter is near fine.
