Colton/Thayer publication of the Declaration of Independence. This 1860 print was rendered from the original 1818 copperplate of the Declaration engraved by Peter Maverick and published by Benjamin Owen Tyler. A pictorial engraving by famous New York wood engraver Lossing & Barritt appears on this version. Declaration features a green color border, linen backing and black painted wood hanging rods. Measures 29'' x 42.75''. Chipping and some staining to fragile document, with a larger open tear to the upper right. Separation of document from bottom rod and to green cloth piping along the sides. Fair condition, although most flaws can be minimized with proper backing. A highly uncommon print of the Declaration.
