1843 McKenney & Hall print of On-Ge-Wae Indian Chief from the ''History of the Indian Tribes of North America'' series published in 1837-1844. McKenney and Hall commissioned artist Henry Inman to reproduce these portraits based on the work of Charles Bird King. Most of the original paintings were destroyed by a fire at the Smithsonian, but McKenney had been smuggling out the King portraits to have Inman copy them. 6.5'' x 10'' color print includes accompanying text from book on On-Ge-Wae Chief. Near fine.
