Prince William and Kate (nee Middleton), Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, piece of royal wedding cake. Slice was gifted to commissioned personnel in the Royal Navy, within which William holds the rank of Sub-Lieutenant and serves as Commodore in Chief for Scotland and Submarines. The eight-tier cake was designed and crafted by Fiona Cairns for the couple's 29 April 2011 wedding, revealing to the press that raisins, french brandy and orange rind were among the ingredients used. The ceremony took place at Westminster Abbey in London, with the reception following at Buckingham Palace. Broadcast globally, the nuptials garnered viewership in the tens of millions. Slice is neatly wrapped in waxed paper, measuring approximately 3'' x 2.25'' x 1.5''. Relatively heavy slice is stored inside a striking red box bearing William and Kate's combined royal cyphers in silver gilt on the lid. Fine. A very special memento from the wedding of the century.
