This is a Georgian patent issued 27 July 1795 for Durham gunsmith James Spears' improvement to the construction of locks. 2pp. on card-style stationery is written in a secretarial hand and countersigned by Portland. Measures 8'' x 12.25''. Inventor's name is noted on verso panel. Toning, else near fine.
