Dated 7 August 1855, letter reads in full: ''Your departure was earlier than I supposed from your letter it would be, therefore I failed to see you. Yours from New York has been received and I reply, draw on me now for half the amount but I must ask you to wait until say the end of the month for the balance. Very truly yours, Jeffn Davis''. Single page written in black ink measures 8'' x 9.75''. Intersecting folds with several pencil notations to top and a bit of light soiling, else very good condition. With PSA/DNA COA.
