Scarce invitation to the 1841 Presidential Inaugural Ball for William Henry Harrison, who was, of course, the shortest serving President, having caught a cold at his inauguration that would result in his death by pneumonia a month later. Salmon colored invitation measures 4.25'' x 7.25''. On verso is written in ink, ''Mr. Richard Taft / Tyngsborough'', presumably to whom the invitation was sent. Toning along two horizontal folds, mild discoloration and small .25'' tear along fold. Overall in very good condition.
