Elaborately decorated vintage North African dagger and matching scabbard, dating to the late 18th or early 19th century. Procured in a Tangiers, Morocco market, weapon represents Tangiers as the Barbary Coast's hub of commerce, piracy and the slave trade at the dawn of the New Imperialism period. Hilt and scabbard are completely covered with an intricate black and red patterned bone inlay design. Curved blade measures approximately 8.5'' with accompanying 11'' curved scabbard. Near fine.
