Rare first edition of John Steinbeck's first novel, ''Cup of Gold: A Life of Henry Morgan, Buccaneer.'' Robert M. McBride & Company: New York: 1929. The historical novel, of which only 1,537 first edition copies were printed, tells the story of the pirate's sacking of Panama City. The 269pp. volume without dustjacket, measuring 5.25'' x 8.25'', has blue top edges, as present in the first edition copies. Minor wear to boards and separation of binding inside backstrip. Overall very good.
