Eugene O'Neill autograph letter signed, dated 16 January 1924 on ''Brook Farm / Ridgefield Connecticut'' stationery, where the acclaimed playwright moved with his second wife, writer Agnes Boulton, in 1922. Letter, addressed to a Mr. Winslow, reads, ''I have duly written my name in your book which I return under separate-cover -- also have inscribed above it a speech from 'The Hairy Ape' -- or rather, a section of a speech -- which I am very fond of. Under its veil of dialect it 'touches the spot' for most of us, I believe. I'm sorry I have no script to send you. If you'll remind me sometime later I may have one. With all best wishes, Eugene O'Neill.'' Letter, measuring 8.5'' x 11'', has minor toning along edges and folds from mailing, else near fine condition, with nice, clear signature.
