Highly collectible set of Presidential signed books about another President. In this case, Millard Fillmore signs six volumes, (two signed as President) of his personally owned 10 volume set of ''The Life and Works of John Adams''. Published by Little, Brown and Co.: Boston: 1850-1856. As President, he signs, ''Millard Fillmore / Sept. 10. 1851'' within the second and third volumes. The first and last volumes of the set are signed and dated to the front pastedowns, ''Millard Fillmore / Oct. 24. 1856'' as the first nominee of the new Republican party. The eighth and ninth volumes are signed ''Millard Fillmore / June 26. 1854'' to the front pastedowns. Remaining volumes are each signed ''Millard Fillmore'' in another hand, likely by Millard P. Fillmore, the President's son who worked as White House secretary from 1850-1853. Volumes each measure approximately 5.5'' x 9''. Foxing and toning with some wear to spine ends, overall very good.
