John Wayne production-used cargo field pack from ''The Green Berets,'' his 1968 Vietnam War film. Pack was supplied for the film by the U.S. government from WWII-era stock and is labeled ''I-40'' in yellow under the flap. Pack is lined in vinyl with illustrated instruction sheet sewn in that reads: ''Cargo Pack: may be used as personal utility bag (Fig. 4.) / Pack, Field, Cargo, M-1945...Requisitioned separately for replacement purposes. Used with following to make full field pack: a. Suspenders, Pack, Field, Cargo-and-Combat...b. Pack, Field, Combat, M-1945...This Pack, Field, Cargo, M-1945 cannot be used with Pack, Field, Combat / Made in 1944...'' This was the only Wayne film for which the government issued official property. Measures approximately 15'' x 5'' x 12''. Some white areas from rubbing, else near fine condition.
