Membership booklet for Bruce Lee's first U.S. martial arts school, the Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute, stamped with his personal stamp four times. In 1959 Lee began teaching martial arts in the U.S. while an undergrad at the University of Washington, founding his first school, Jun Fan Gung Fu (literally Bruce Lee's Kung Fu) in Seattle. Front of card has ''Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute / Membership Card'' printed in English and Chinese, adorned with a red and gold yin/yang symbol. Card-style booklet has one of Lee's former student's name and address printed, along with his membership number and rank: ''Toshio Hiroshige / 1815 15th Ave. S. / Seattle, Wash.'' The student also signs his name in ink. Lee's name is stamped above the ''President'' line with his famous ''stone chop'' red stamp depicting his given name in Chinese characters. The stamp signature translates, ''By the Name of Jun Fan Lee''. There are 8 boxes that can be stamped to signify level attained, or rank, and Lee has stamped three boxes with his name chop to signify the student has earned third rank. Card-style blue booklet measures 2.5'' x 3.5''. Some minor toning and wear, else very good condition.
