Golden Globe awarded to Sir John Mills as Best Supporting Actor for "Ryan's Daughter" in 1970. Trophy was presented at the 1970 ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. Mills starred to critical and popular acclaim as Michael the "village idiot," a role that completely broke type for the actor. Statue is composed of a metal sculpture of a globe encircled by a film strip upon a neutral marble pedestal. The letters "HFPA" appear in the metal design beneath the globe. An engraved plaque is mounted to the marble pedestal, engraved, "JOHN MILLS / Best / Supporting Actor / In A Motion Picture / 'RYAN's DAUGHTER' / 1970 / Hollywood / Foreign Press / Association / 3186". Measures 8.75" in total height. Square base measures 3" x 3" at the bottom, while pedestal itself measures 2" x 2". Weighs 3 pounds, 8 ounces. Manufacturer's "So. Calif. Trophy Co." sticker is affixed to underside of base. Statue shows a small chip to the base at right rear corner, chip to pedestal at upper left corner and some tarnishing to finish on the left side of figure, else fine.
