Upon White House stationery, Roosevelt's charming letter is dated 16 December 1933 and reads in full: ''My dear Mr. Scully: Apparently, the story in which I said that I did believe in Santa Claus has caused these letters. I feel sure that where it is possible you will find some organization which will take care of these appeals. Very sincerely yours, [signed] Eleanor Roosevelt''.
